Well it appears Blizzard is churning the money pits around more and actually hoping off of the MMORPG path again for Diablo III. It will have a single player component as well as a Battle.NET multiplayer arena to coop with others.
They've kept the Isometric 3D look and feel for the game which I think is a bonus. They are also keeping with "if you can click a mouse you can play the game" type of movement and combat. There are going to be 5 playable classes that can be either male or female so you are not stuck being a chick if you want to be a sorcerer and not stuck being a male if you want to be a necromancer. I do not know if necromancers and sorcerers will be in Diablo III. I only know about two of the classes which are the Barbarian and the Witch Doctor.
There are cinematic and gameplay trailers for all your other questions over at [webpage]
Well, it's been about a month since Ady's post on a Spore update. I have downloaded the trial and enjoyed creating a creature which can be found .. [webpage]
You can download Flurp in his purple glory and load him into your trial for full version of the creature creator and manipulate him in any way you see fit. The controls are extremely intuitive and do not require a degree in digital 3D design to control. I would say decent eyesight and an ability to move your mouse around the screen are all that are required.
I have not read enough apparently to know why you would pay the $10.00 for this software to only get a $5.00 discount on the actual game (if purchased through certain retailers). I am understanding the Creature Creator is a "game" in and of itself independent of Spore and will also not be part of Spore. So basically it is a tease of what you may end up with while playing the game.
Gamespy's Spore Article on the Creature Creator All I can say is WHOA DUDE!!! A quote from the early portion of the article: "Navigating a scantily populated social network is a pretty bleak proposition, and if you've ever had the misfortune of logging into an MMO one hour into its launch (or held on to the hopes that your favorite underdog will see a resurgence in popularity), you would surely agree. Maxis appears aware of this, hence the Spore Creature Creator utility that's set for release June 17, months in advance of the actual game."
In just shy of one month's time, this will be available to create creatures to inhabit the metaverse of Spore. Unfortunately, this news isn't all sunshine and rainbows as can be seen from this part:
"In keeping with its apparent willingness to tinker with new ways to monetize games (see Battleforge and Battlefield: Heroes), EA will be charging for the Spore Creature Creator. An alternate version will be also available for free for download as well as packed-in with The SimCity Box, which will feature about a quarter of the customization options present in the $9.95 USD version. EA has also confirmed that people who purchase the Creature Creator from Amazon or Target will get a $5 rebate off of Spore when it hits shelves."
I'm going to keep an eye on this and I'll toss up more information as I get it. I definitely have plans to play Spore and I remember a few of us also wanting to play it. This might not be a bad way to reserve the game. If I do decide to jump on board with this, I definitely won't be doing the free downloaded version. Only a quarter of the options sucks.
When I saw the title of the article, I had high hopes it would have been all great news. Unfortunately, while it did contain some very exciting things typical EA fashion jumps in and spoils it. However, if you do plan to play Spore, getting the rebate off the game might not be a bad deal depending on just how much the Creature Creator costs. As I get more info, I'll be sure to toss it up for those interested.
